Sensys Gatso Group, a global manufacturer of traffic safety solutions, has secured an order for traffic safety systems from a customer in the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region.

As part of the €1m deal, Sensys Gatso will be responsible for providing traffic safety systems for speed enforcement, and is planned to be finalised within the first quarter of next year.

It is reported that deliveries under this order will start as soon as full payment has been received.

Sensys Gatso Group president and CEO Torbjörn Sandberg said: “We are very excited to receive this first order and are looking forward to develop our cooperation with the customer in order to exploit the future potential in this area.”

Sensys has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate on localisation of production and transfer of know-how for potential further orders for this customer.

As per the MoU, the addressable market covered is a population of approximately 60 million people, 15 million vehicles, as well as a vast road network and more than ten cities with a population exceeding 500,000.

The MENA region has been an important market for Sensys Gatso, as it generated nearly 15% of the group's total revenues last year.

The MENA region is characterised by knowledgeable and demanding customers running small to midsize procurement projects for traffic safety systems at regular intervals.

With a population of more than 400 million people MENA continues to develop as one of Sensys Gatso Group's most important markets.
