SICE, a Spanish tolling systems integrator, has secured a contract from the Humber Bridge Board for the maintenance of its hybrid tolling system on the Humber Bridge in northeast England for the next four years.

SICE has designed and implemented the new tolling system and will be replacing the conventional tolling system.

The new modern tolling system features two central lanes with electronic toll (multi-lane free flow or open road tolling), traditional side lanes and fully renovated conventional sides to allow users to pay either by distance tolling or at manned tollbooths.

"By securing this contract from the Humber Bridge Board, SICE has strengthened its presence in the UK as one of the lead contractors of tolling systems in the country."

As part of the deal, SICE will be maintaining the tolling system on the Humber Bridge until 31 July 2020.

The deal will see SICE responsible for the implementation of system hardware, software applications, networks and servers on the site. These works will be carried out during the first year of the contract.

During the remaining three years, SICE will be taking care of software applications remotely.

By securing this contract from the Humber Bridge Board, SICE has strengthened its presence in the UK as one of the lead contractors of tolling systems in the country.

In addition to the Humber’s systems, SICE will also be maintaining the shadow tolling system of the A-13, which connects London's city centre with East London and South Essex and the traditional tolling system of the Itchen Bridge in Southampton. Both projects were also installed by SICE.
