Skanska, a global project development and construction company, has secured a NOK2.3bn ($274m) contract from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration for the construction of E6 road in southern Helgeland, Norway.

As per the terms of the contract, Skanska will be responsible for design and build 132km of road in the Nordland County, of which 57.5 km will be a new road.

The company will also be responsible for operation and maintenance of the entire road section for a period of 15 years.

"Around 200 employees from Skanska will be engaged for the completion of this project."

The construction work is slated to begin in April this year and is expected to be completed by 2021.

Skanska has also been involved in building construction and civil engineering in Sweden, Norway and Finland.

It has also completed residential- and commercial property projects in select home markets.

Skanska has also offered its services in public-private partnerships, and its commercial development stream is also active in Denmark.
