Skanska to upgrade Nordby and Smiehagen tunnels in Norway
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration has awarded a Nkr385m ($48.1m) contract to Skanska for renovating the Nordby and Smiehagen tunnels on the E6 route in Akershus, Norway.
Opened in 1993, the Nordby tunnel is 3,850m long, featuring two files in each direction in double pipes. The 892m long Smiehagen tunnel was opened in 1999 and has two lanes heading in one direction.

A new purification plant will also be built to take water from both tunnels.
Construction works at these two tunnels is expected to begin next month and is due for completion by February 2019.
The contract value will be included in the Nordic order bookings for the third quarter of this year.
