US-based Sterling Construction has revealed that its subsidiary company Ralph Wadsworth Construction (RLW) and its joint venture (JV) partner W.W. Clyde & Co have secured a $139m highway project from the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT).

As per the terms of the contract, RLW and its JV partner will be responsible for the design and construction of four grade-separated interchanges along Bangerter Highway in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Each interchange would feature a bridge, retaining walls, earthwork, concrete paving, drainage, signals and utility work.

"The construction of these new interchanges will significantly improve the flow of traffic in the greater Salt Lake City area."

Sterling CEO Paul Varello said: “We are very pleased that our joint venture has been selected by the Utah Department of Transportation to design and build this major project.

Design of the project will start immediately with construction to begin later this year, it is slated for completion by the end of next year.

RLW will be the managing partner in the JV, and will report 100% of the project revenues and pro-rated portion of the profits.

Sterling Construction has also been involved in transportation infrastructure projects that include highways, roads, bridges, airfields, ports and light rail.
