TomTom Traffic has been launched in several European and Middle Eastern countries.

It has been released in Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Ukraine, Croatia, and Romania, as well as in Oman, Qatar, Bahrein and Israel.

With the addition of these countries, TomTom has extended its service to 64 countries.

TomTom Traffic offers up-to-date information on traffic jams and other road conditions, which enable drivers to find a route with no congestion.

The information is also used by cities and road authorities to monitor, analyse, and manage traffic in the region.

"This will help drivers, businesses, and government in better managing traffic flow, increasing road safety and easing the impact of congestion on the environment."

TomTom business development and operations vice-president Andreas Erwig said: "The further geo-expansion of TomTom Traffic into Eastern Europe and the Middle East will be a huge help to drivers, businesses and government in better managing traffic-flow, increasing road safety and easing the impact of congestion on the environment."

The firm receives data from over 500 million devices.

TomTom intends to further speed-up its Traffic geo-expansion plans with the addition of several countries this year.
