US-based TomTom Telematics has launched its new PRO 8 series driver terminals, which aim to make life on the road easier for mobile workers and enhance road safety by reducing driver distraction.

The PRO 8 driver terminals series include the PRO 8270, PRO 8270 TRUCK, PRO 8275 and PRO 8275 TRUCK.

Launched at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show, the terminals are integrated with the SaaS-based fleet management platform, WEBFLEET, and are designed to integrate information captured in the field into back-end systems providing decision-making based on real-time data.

The platform, PRO.connect, provides new ways to customise the driver terminal with apps to further digitise the workflow process.

The WEBFLEET platform can also be integrated with apps such as vehicle checks, proof of delivery, question paths and barcode scanning, thus improving service-quality for end-customers.

The PRO 8270 and 8275 terminals also come with a mobile device management platform to administer various apps and workflow scenarios, giving customers full control over the platform and devices, and the ability to service the driver terminal remotely.

Organisations can use this platform to ensure information security and enhance safety on the road by reducing driver distractions.

TomTom Telematics managing director Thomas Schmidt said: "WEBFLEET and the new TomTom PRO driver terminals give businesses the flexibility they need to operate fleets more efficiently and to improve customer satisfaction.

"By providing both driver and back office information in real-time they can work better as a team to make smarter decisions."

In addition to offering additional integration capabilities for customised apps, the PRO 8 series also comes with a ready-to-use mobile device management platform.
