US-based Trafficware has introduced a new Cloud-based traffic signal performance measuring (SPM) product.

The new software as a service (SaaS) solution is equipped with connected vehicle and parking guidance technology, having been designed to store and analyse data collected from a traffic signal network.

There are more than 330,000 traffic signals currently operating in the US, with transport agencies across the country rarely having the required resources to retime signals on the recommended three to five-year cycle.

Trafficware said that its Cloud SPM software has been designed to provide access to the information at any point throughout the year, enabling traffic engineers to quickly identify potential signal timing issues.

"We can dramatically reduce the cost of using signal performance measures for traffic agencies."

Trafficware CEO Jon Newhard said: "Trafficware has supported signal performance measure methodologies for the last several releases of ATMS.now, our central transportation management system.

"However, customers using the SPM methodology have spent significant sums of money on data storage to house it behind their firewall.

"Now, with functionality available in the Trafficware Cloud, we can dramatically reduce the cost of using signal performance measures for traffic agencies, which can assist the continued adoption of this important methodology."

The company further added that its Trafficware Cloud SPM Service application features a traffic analysis tool, and can be easily deployed in the existing environment without any software installation or configuration.
