TransCore, a subsidiary of Roper Industries, has won a toll systems integration and maintenance contract by the Texas Department of Transport (TxDOT).
As part of the deal, TransCore will develop, install, integrate, test and maintain open road tolling (ORT) and cash collection systems across the state.
The company will also maintain all existing and currently operational ORT and cash collection lanes that were installed by the previous contractor and integrate them with its toll technology.
The integrated toll collection system is expected to be efficient, promote interoperability throughout the state and reduce operational costs.
TransCore president John Simler said the company's experience in Texas, Dallas, Austin and Houston includes a state-wide footprint of more than 300 toll collection engineers, technical experts, software developers and technicians.
"This provides TxDOT with the ability to bridge the past with the present and build for the future," Simler said.
TransCore was selected after evaluating the proposed solution, technology, qualifications and price.
