Waze navigation app has introduced a new voice recorder feature in its application, which enables drivers to record all their voice prompts any way they like.

The new feature allows Waze application users to customise their drive by recording turn-by-turn voice prompts.

To use this feature, the app users have to turn on the recorder in the settings to record unlimited voice prompts.

Waze will automatically play the default voice instructions in their country, for the prompts that have not been recorded by the user.

"We are giving Wazers the chance to express their creativity in any language and dialect as they record their own directions to add a personal touch to their driving experience."

Recorded voice prompts have previously been limited to the individual user, but the company plans to share voice recordings between Waze app users.

The new feature will be available for Android phone users worldwide from 24 May, and the company intends to roll-out this feature to iOS phones at a later stage.

Waze UK head Finlay Clark said: “In the past we’ve had Morgan Freeman, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Hammond, Clarkson, May and most recently Sue Perkins as the voice of Waze, helping drivers outsmart traffic and save time.

“But now, we are giving Wazers the chance to express their creativity in any language and dialect as they record their own directions to add a personal touch to their driving experience.”
