Worcestershire County Council has carried out improvements on 50km of road, benefiting nearly 3,000 residential  homes, as part of its Driving Home programme.

Following the launch of the programme in July, the council said that it would spend an additional £12m on road improvements over the next two years, in addition to its £10m commitment for main roads.

"Worcestershire roads are some of the best in the country and we are committed to keeping them that way."

UK Cabinet Minister for Highways Marcus Hart said: “Worcestershire residents tell us time and time again that the roads near to where they live, the roads they travel on every day, are important to them and I am delighted our Driving Home programme is delivering results.

“Worcestershire roads are some of the best in the country and we are committed to keeping them that way and investing in the roads that matter most to local people.”

The council expects the opening of the £16m Hoobrook link road to reduce traffic and enhance businesses in the region.

The road will also improve connectivity to the South Kidderminster Enterprise Park, one of Worcestershire's  major employment sites.
