Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) has secured a new contract from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for the six-laning of Aurangabad to Bihar–Jharkhand border (Chordaha) section of NH-2 in the state of Bihar.

The company received the Letter of Award (LoA) through a competitive process after it emerged as the lowest bidder quoting Rs8.82bn ($138.5m) for the development of the road project on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis.

RInfra EPC CEO Arun Gupta said: “This order is reflective of RInfra’s steadily expanding footprint in the road infrastructure space following its growing presence in mega projects in power sector, both in the international and domestic markets.”

The scope of the project involves design, engineering, procurement and construction of six-lane highway from 180km to 249.525km on NH-2 in Bihar.

“This order is reflective of RInfra’s steadily expanding footprint in the road infrastructure space following its growing presence in mega projects in power sector, both in the international and domestic markets.”

The project also includes the construction of associated bridges with paved shoulders.

Funded by NHAI, it forms part of the Government of India’s flagship National Highway Development Programme (phase V).

The project is expected to be completed within two years.

RInfra EPC currently operates 11 road projects with total length of 1,000km on build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis.

The company has been short-listed for multiple other road projects, including Bandra-Versova Sea Link, Mumbai Coastal Road, and the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway.
