Swedish company Scania has partnered with Chinese firm Haylion Technologies to develop self-driving and electrified vehicles, as well as work in the areas of autonomous driving applications, electrification and connectivity.

The partnership aims to expedite the development and commercialisation of autonomous driving applications and sustainable transport solutions.

It will work on non-fossil-fuel powered, mainly electrified vehicles, including autonomous driving and urban bus transport.

Scania China Strategic Office executive director Mats Harborn said: “For Scania, this partnership provides unique opportunities to contribute to, as well as to learn from the rapid technology development now taking place in China in these strategic areas.

Along with Gortune Investment, Haylion Technologies has formed a team of specialists from the fields of artificial intelligence, automotive manufacturing, communications and public transport.

The team will work to develop autonomous driving technology, concept verification and its industrialisation.

Haylion Technologies, in collaboration with Shenzhen Bus Group ‘AlphaBa’, is currently conducting test runs of intelligent buses on public roads.
