Roper Technologies’ wholly owned subsidiary TransCore has been selected by the Richmond Metropolitan Transportation Authority (RMTA) to design and maintain its next-generation toll collection system in Richmond Virginia, US.

The system will include cash, mixed mode, and open road tolling (ORT) across 57 lanes and three expressways in the Richmond.

RMTA operations director Theresa Simmons said: “Our mission is to provide our motorists with the safest, most reliable commute in the ever-growing Commonwealth.

“This project will ensure our expressways do more than keep pace with growth, but also lead with the most accurate technology available.”

The new system will be installed along the Downtown Expressway, Powhite Parkway and the Boulevard Bridge.

RMTA CEO Joi Taylor Dean said: “We look forward to continuing our partnership with TransCore to fulfil the mobility needs of our customers for years to come.

“Our success over the years comes from a shared vision that the best innovations focus on both technology and the customer.”

As part of the project, TransCore will convert RMTA’s active, legacy toll system to the Infinity Digital Lane System, which is designed to manage comprehensive toll operations under stop-and-go, as well as free-flow traffic conditions.

The new system will enable RMTA to operate any lane in cash, mixed or all-electronic tolling (AET) mode without any software or hardware changes.

Furthermore, the company will provide comprehensive maintenance services of the Infinity solution through its Insight Maintenance Online Management System (MOMS).

It will also remotely monitor all Infinity lanes and server environments from its national Maintenance Monitoring Center.

In 2008, TransCore designed an ORT solution along the Powhite Parkway for RMTA.
