Yamaha’s electric bike joint project enters testing this year, promising great results in the long term.

Yamaha has already launched five electric scooters or mopeds including the EC-05, Passol, EC-02, EC-03 and the E-Vino in the last 18 years, all but the EC-05 in limited numbers. However, the Yamaha electric motorbike which is a development of Dohms Projects and Spike Technologies, and Yamaha’s European subsidiary and the KNMV, will pioneer the future.

The newest Yamaha electric motorbike (EMX) is a YZ250F, modified to package an electric powertrain. The main advantages it will have over the regular bike are higher torque and considerably higher traction. This gives extensive horse power to the newest build, making in one of the top models in the world.

If the new EMX model proves successful, Yamaha is to expect an increase in their share price and profits

The EMX is the first electric motocross bike that can enter challenges with the current generation of internal combustion engine 250 cc dirt bikes. Until now, the majority of the developed electric motorbikes are for street-use only, whereas the EMX is the first electric motocross bike that can enter challenges with the current generation of internal combustion engine 250 cc dirt bikes.

This makes it a one-of-a-kind in the market promising great results. However, we really have to wait and see how the testing will go in order to reach to final decision. This is because motocross bikes not only require great horsepower but high endurance capabilities as well, thus it will be very interesting to see the battery capabilities of the build.

Spike Technologies has developed the battery of this Yamaha electric bike, while Dohms Projects is on the motor and weight distribution. The battery is swappable, and so, the rider can continue with the runs immediately after replacing it when the charging depletes.

This will be of great advantage for the riders of the specific bike, because by doing just a simple pit stop of a few second could replace their motorbikes’ fuels and be back in the game as fast as possible.

The new Yamaha electric motorbike could be highly profitable for the Japanese company if the testing proves successful. Yamaha’s share price currently is decreasing, thus a successful pass of the phase three of their electric motorbike could boost the company’s share price, as investors trust will be placed and carried by the electric motocross bike to new highs.
