The Allstate’s technology unit the Arity has introduced a suite of three new data products in a bid to make mobility safer and reduce the number of collisions and fatalities on the US roads.

The new Risk Data Stream, Drive Shield Routing and Drive Shield Alerts can be used by automotive OEMs, telematics service providers (TSPs), insurance providers and other vendors to predict the risk of accidents and accordingly improve safety.

Users can install these tools within their solutions such as navigation and telematics applications, semi-autonomous vehicles, active safety systems, fleet management and infrastructure planning.

Arity president Gary Hallgren said: “These are truly innovative, lifesaving products. We’ve done something very unique here by quantifying the real-time risk of any road.

“We’re arming drivers and transportation players with valuable information so they can make smarter, safer decisions on the road.”

Customers can send a specific road, route or point on a map to Arity, which uses the Risk Data Stream to return a detailed data set that includes a real-time road risk score, historic accident statistics, and other information.

Risk scores are generated on the basis of road characteristics, accident history, live traffic and weather.

Drive Shield Alerts notify the user when they are about to approach a high-risk road detailing the estimated security levels and ways to avoid it, while Drive Shield Routing offers a safer route alternative to current navigation systems.

The new solutions are expected to help in reducing the risks of collisions on the road.
