BlackBerry and Jaguar Land Rover have extended their partnership to develop autonomous vehicles using machine learning and AI technologies.

The partners will use BlackBerry’s Cylance and QNX platforms to improve vehicle safety, using cyber threat protection and software maintenance.

BlackBerry will provide its QNX operating system for Jaguar Land Rover’s autonomous vehicle. This operating system will improve the safety of the vehicle’s architecture.

To boost the security of the next-generation vehicles, BlackBerry will also provide its cybersecurity consulting to identify any security issues.

In January last year, Baidu signed a statement of intent to use BlackBerry QNX’s ISO26262 ASIL-D certified safety operating system (OS) for its Apollo autonomous driving open platform.

Both companies agreed to collaborate on facilitating the deployment of connected and autonomous vehicle technology for automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and suppliers worldwide.
