US-based engineering consultancy Calvin, Giordano & Associates (CGA) has signed a three-year contract with the City of Miami Beach for providing general transportation planning and traffic engineering services.

Under the contract, CGA will be responsible for providing traffic engineering analysis and design, as well as transit-oriented planning and development for facilities, short-range and long-range transportation.

The contract also includes services such as environmental sustainability analysis, financial planning and analysis, public participation, transit intermodal facility development and urban design services.

The three-year contract has the provision of two one-year extensions.

CGA expects that the resulting task work orders under the contract will focus on the city’s Transportation Master Plan and Bicycle Pedestrian Master Plan goals.

The goals that have been outlined include prioritising pedestrians, as well as developing a safe and connected bicycle network throughout the city. The plan also aims to provide a reliable transit service and infrastructure, off-street parking facilities, and efficient freight and delivery of goods within the city.

In order to meet all the requirements, CGA assigned a team that will focus on improving transport infrastructure, providing green sustainable infrastructure design, coordinating transportation and land use decisions, as well as implementing a public outreach program that includes all stakeholders.

CGA’s Traffic Engineering director Eric Czerniejewski will lead the project team, which consists of Toole Design Group, Caltran Engineering, Lambert Advisory, Tindale Oliver and Roar Media.
