CIMIC Group company CPB Contractors in a 50:50 JV with John Holland has been awarded a contract to complete the A$3.9bn ($2.8bn) WestConnex M4-M5 Link Rozelle Interchange in Australia.

Upon completion, the WestConnex M4-M5 Link Rozelle Interchange will connect the extended M4 and the New M5 to the Anzac Bridge and Victoria Road.

The motorway will offer a link to the proposed Western Harbour Tunnel and Beaches Link project.

CIMIC Group CEO Michael Wright said: “Importantly, our construction, tunnelling and engineering expertise within both CPB Contractors and our engineering company EIC Activities are key to the successful delivery of the Rozelle Interchange, the last stage of the WestConnex project.”

CPB Contractors managing director Juan Santamaria said: “The award of the WestConnex Rozelle Interchange reflects CPB Contractors’ unrivalled experience in delivering major transport projects across Australia.”

“This critical section of the WestConnex motorway will make Sydney more connected than ever before.”

CPB Contractors recently concluded the WestConnex M4 Widening project, while it is currently delivering the WestConnex M4 East and WestConnex New M5 with its JV partners.

John Holland CEO Joe Barr said: “This critical section of the WestConnex motorway will make Sydney more connected than ever before. We are proud to be part of a project that will make it easier for tens of thousands of motorists to get around every day.

“This will also reduce congestion in the inner west and future-proof the motorway for links to the Western Harbour Tunnel.”

Construction is scheduled to commence next year, with completion by 2023.
