Thousand Islands Bridge Authority (TIBA) has awarded a design-build contract to TransCore for the development of an advanced toll collection system to be deployed on its international bridge.

The new bridge acts as a link between Wellesley Island in New York, US, and Hill Island in Ontario, Canada.

The contract includes the installation of the Infinity Digital Lane System (IDLS) in place of the existing toll collection system.

IDLS will be combined with the customer service centre operations of the New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA).

Spain-based design and construction services provider Ferrovial has been awarded a €273m ($318.2m) contract for the construction of Rutas del Loa road in Atacama, Chile.

Ferrovial Agroman, a subsidiary of Ferrovial, will execute the project and will be responsible for the extension of the 111km-long section in Calama and construction of a 25km-long bypass road. It will also construct a 345m viaduct over the River Loa.

A 40-year concession contract was awarded to Intervial Chile for the maintenance of the developed infrastructure.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to provide a $60m loan to the Mongolian Government for the development of 311km of road corridors.

Funding will be used to set up road infrastructure such as road markings, barriers and guideposts.

ADB intends to support the enhancement of trade and economic co-operation in the country through the proposed funding.

Mongolia’s total road network is approximately 48,500km-long but only 13.2% of the roads are paved.

The Georgia Department of Transportation has secured a $184m Infrastructure for Rebuilding America grant from the US Department of Transportation (USDOT) for the new express lanes on the State Route (SR) 400 in Atlanta.

The grant will support the construction of 17 miles (27.35km) of two-lane roads with bidirectional lanes along SR 400 from I-285 to McGinnis Ferry Road in Fulton County.

An additional managed lane will also be constructed in each direction between McGinnis Ferry Road north and McFarland Parkway in Forsyth County.

Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation has raised its stake in PT Nusantara Infrastructure by 4.99%, through the acquisition of 760 million shares in the company.

The acquisition has been made by PT Metro Pacific Tollways Indonesia (PT MPTI), the Indonesian subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation.

The latest acquisition brings PT MPTI’s total stake in PT Nusantara Infrastructure to 53.26%.

The transaction is expected to be valued at Rs1,421bn ($98.7m).
