Egis, an engineering and infrastructure services provider based in France, has acquired the M40 motorway operations and maintenance contract from Carillion following the latter’s compulsory liquidation in January this year.

The contract will now be managed by Egis Road Operation M40, an arm of Egis.

Egis will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of a 123km-long M40 section between J1A and J15 intersection with the A46 near Warwick, until 2027.

World Bank has agreed to provide a $210m loan to the State Government of Madhya Pradesh (MP) for the development of Madhya Pradesh Rural Connectivity Project.

The rural connectivity project is aimed at the development of rural roads to provide improved connectivity in the region.

The project will upgrade 10,510km of rural roads in MP, as part of the Chief Minister’s Gram Sadak Yojana (CMGSY) programme.

It will include the conversion of approximately 10,00km of gravel roads into bituminous roads, and paving of 510km of new bituminous roads.

World Bank’s International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) will provide the loan, which will have a grace period of five years and maturity of 25 years.

CCCC Highway Consultant and China Road and Bridge have secured a PHP5.27bn ($100m) contract from the Philippines Department of Public Works & Highways (DPWH).

The contractual scope includes construction of Estrella-Pantallon and Binondo-Intramuros bridges.

The design and construction supervision services for the projects will be provided by CCCC Highway Consultant, while the construction works will be carried out by China Road and Bridge.

The civil works of the project are expected to be completed by 2020.

BMW Group has contracted Magna and Innoviz Technologies for the supply of solid-state LiDAR technology for the development of its autonomous vehicle platforms.

The LiDAR technology will help BMW enhance performance and safety levels of its Level 4 and Level 5 self-driving systems. It will also provide key driving insights using 3D vision techniques and algorithms.

The Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina has secured two loans worth €150m ($180m) from European Investment Bank (EIB) for the development of two road sections on the Corridor VC pan-European road.

The pan-European motorway will connect Eastern Croatia and Budapest with the Adriatic coast.

A loan of €100m ($120m) will be used for the construction of a 21km-long motorway, including a 2.6km twin tunnel between Mostar South and Pocitelj.

The second loan of €50m ($60m) will fund the construction of a 2.8km-long tolled motorway, which includes a 2.4km twin tunnel between Ponirak and Vraca.
