The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has awarded a Rs34bn ($523.6m) contract to IRB Infrastructure Developers.

The build, operate and transfer (BOT) contract includes a concession period of 22 years and involves conversion of the 99.6km-long bypass road between Hapur and Moradabad into a six-lane road.

The construction of the project is expected to be completed within 910 days.

Based in Mumbai, IRB Infrastructure is specialised in the construction of highways and associated infrastructure.

Denmark-based COWI has been selected by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to provide detailed design for a section of the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link Bridge, India.

The 22.8km-long bridge is expected to enhance connectivity in the region. It will link Navi Mumbai International Airport, Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Mumbai-Goa Highway and the Nhava Sheva Port.

The developmental works on the motorway include conversion of a 3km-long stretch between Milton Keynes and M1 into a dual carriageway.

The upgrade works are expected to conclude by the end of 2019.

The project has also secured a £4.6m ($6.5m) funding from Central Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes councils and £1m ($1.5m) from South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP).

UK-based road construction firm Khot Infrastructure Holdings intends to raise C$0.5m ($0.38m) through a non-brokered private placement of subscription receipts.

Priced at C$0.10 ($0.07) each, the placement will involve a total of five million receipts.

The proceeds are intended to be used for the development of data products, proprietary indexes and for working capital and corporate purposes.
