The Highways Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG) has awarded a contract to Telensa for the installation of a smart street lightning system in Yuen Long Town.

The lightning system, designated as PLANet, is being installed as part of a pilot project. The existing lights will be replaced by smart LED lights by South King-Kum Shing JV.

The smart system will connect all the individual lights with wireless nodes, which will be operated using a dedicated wireless network.

HKSARG intends to reduce the maintenance and energy costs using the proposed smart lighting system.

Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) has awarded an upgrade contract to Naza Engineering & Construction (Naza EC) for the renovation of Jalan Tun Razak exchange linking Jalan Langgak Golf with Kampung Pandan.

Naza EC will be responsible for the construction of a 2.8km three-lane elevated carriageway, under the contract.

“The Government of India has agreed to provide $250m of funding to facilitate the development of the Lusaka Traffic Decongestion Project in Zambia.”

The 2.8km stretch includes a 1.2km mainline and 1.6km entry and exit ramps.

DBKL intends to enhance the traffic movement during peak hours through the carriageway.

Estimated to cost $289m, the project is expected to be completed in three years.

The funding will be used for the construction of roads and bus lanes, as well as the installation of streetlights.

The project is expected to reduce traffic congestions and save travel time for the commuters.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the project was attended by Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and the President of Zambia Edgar Chagwa Lungu.
