German energy company E.ON is embarking on the final phase of planned road improvements around Radford’s Run Wind Farm in Macon County, Illinois, US, after completing the first phase in 2016.

Road improvement work is being undertaken at a cost of around $20m covering more than 80 miles. It is part of E.ON’s commitment to communities in Austin, Maroa, Illini, and Hickory Point Townships.

The company has selected White Construction to carry out road improvement work.

Set to commence this week, the new phase of repairs and upgrades is expected to be completed in about eight weeks.

“The company is expecting the project to help improve road conditions for drivers and provide local governments with more money to allocate to other projects.”

E.ON North America chief operating officer Silvia Ortin said: “These upgrades are another important long-term investment and benefit for the community in and around our Radford’s Run project.

“We aim to complete this work with as little disruption as possible for residents. To help minimise disruptions, we urge you to stay up to date on construction activities and temporary road closures on the Macon County Highway Department Facebook page.”

The company is expecting the project to help improve road conditions for drivers and provide local governments with more money to allocate to other projects.

During the final phase, the company aims to complete around 50 miles of chip seal upgrade and restoration.

Following the completion of the latest improvement works, E.ON will have improved around 60 miles of chip seal roads, 15 miles of gravel roads, and the surface overlay of six miles of roads.
