The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 5 has awarded Iteris a three-year software-as-a-service (SaaS) contract to use its ClearGuide solution to upgrade vehicle mobility across the central Florida district.

With real-time and historical traffic data from HERE Technologies, Iteris has revealed that ClearGuide has been upgraded to include new capabilities called automated signal performance measures (ATSPM).

The new capabilities are expected to facilitate the analysis and visualisation of traffic data in order to improve roadway mobility and safety across Florida’s District 5, which covers nine counties, including Brevard, Flagler, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia.

With more than 2,100 signalised intersections, Florida’s District 5 region is said to represent 25% of signalised intersections in the state.

As per the agreement, Iteris will be offering ClearGuide features that include ATSPM capabilities to optimise signal performance and dynamic maps to support detailed traffic analysis.

ClearGuide’s features are also expected to help in addressing traffic congestion, analysing events, optimising response plans, and customising the analysis of major Florida roadways.

Iteris Transportation Systems vice-president Scott Perley said: “We are thrilled to be able to support the district’s goal of better managing its transportation network by providing mobility intelligence, as well as 24/7 operations and signal maintenance and monitoring for 25% of the state of Florida’s signalisation intersections.

“ClearGuide enables users to receive regular, proactive recommendations through an intuitive user interface to ultimately improve efficiency at major intersections and throughout the wider network.”

Last November, Iteris secured a four-year consulting services and software-as-a-service (SaaS) contract from Hillsborough County in Florida, the US.

Under this contract, Iteris will be responsible for providing traffic signal retiming, active arterial management, traffic operations support, connected vehicle priority and pre-emption system programme management.
