Engineering consulting firm Juneau Associates has secured the tollway prime professional services contract in Illinois, US, for the construction, observation, and management on the I-294 Central Tri-State.

The contract includes the preservation of pavements, demolition of buildings and the relocation of the Flag Create Sanitary District sanitary sewer so that the existing infrastructure can be prepared and preserved for reconstruction.

The project is part of the $4bn I-294 Tri-State Reconstruction project and is the first Illinois tollway prime professional services project secured by a Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB).

“This opportunity was made possible through gaining valuable experience providing professional services to Tollway prime consultants.”

Juneau Associates president Charlie Juneau said: “We at Juneau are proud to have a significant and meaningful role in the Illinois Tollway Move Illinois Program and I-294 Central Tri-State reconstruction projects.

“This opportunity was made possible through gaining valuable experience providing professional services to Tollway prime consultants as part of the Tollway VOSB and Partnering for Growth programmes over the past four years.”

The 22-mile section of the Central Tri-State (I-294) from Balmoral Avenue to 95th Street is the busiest section on the tollway system and results in twice the amount of congestion delays compared to the entire tollway system.

The Central Tri-State plays a crucial role in the region’s economy, as the roadway connects two airports and provides a vital transportation route for businesses, residents, and workers.

Juneau Associates delivers land surveying, professional engineering design, and construction engineering services for public and private clients across Illinois and Missouri.
