US-based Keysight Technologies is set to advance autonomous driving safety with the launch of its new automotive radar signal analysis and generation solution.

The new Keysight E8740A, which leverages the company’s experience in mmWave technology by providing signal analysis from 3Hz to 110GHz in a continuous sweep, enables radar-based, driver-assistance systems to proactively detect and reduce collision risks.

Keysight Technologies Automotive and Energy Solutions business unit vice-president and general manager Siegfried Gross said: “Radar technology in higher frequencies is critical to significantly improving detection and ranging to different levels, as they take over mission-critical decisions in future autonomous driving scenarios.

“Ensuring the accurate and robust operation of a radar system in an automotive application relies on the quality and integrity of the radar design.

“Keysight is committed to helping developers overcome these new radar design and performance verification challenges with our flexible E8740A solution platform.”

“Keysight is committed to helping developers overcome these new radar design and performance verification challenges with our flexible E8740A solution platform.”

Capable of performing analysis and generation of automotive radar signals across full-frequency ranges for 24GHz, 77GHz and 79GHz radar, the new Keysight E8740A solution provides a scalable analysis bandwidth from 2.5GHz to 5GHz, based on test requirements.

A scalable test platform that covers present and future frequencies and bandwidths with intuitive tools will help engineers identify, isolate or correct crucial design errors.

The solution also offers precise measurements that provide sensitivity and dynamic range, ensuring better SNR.

Using the company’s SystemVue Automotive Radar Library (W1908), Keysight E8740A can easily generate frequency-modulated continuous waveforms and scenarios.
