The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) in the US has awarded a software-as-a-service (SaaS) contract to Iteris to implement its mobility intelligence solution.

Iteris will deliver its ClearGuide platform to enhance mobility across the state.

Traffic data from Here Technologies will be used to deliver contextual real-time and historical transportation information.

The agreement gives MnDOT access to various ClearGuide technology, including dynamic maps and features designed to recognise and alleviate bottlenecks and congestion.

MnDOT will also be able to access animations to analyse events and enhance response plans.

To help the state track reliability and support planning, the software will offer historical trend reports and congestion charts.

The ClearGuide platform will enable the MnDOT to meet many future challenges. It is designed to accumulate a wide range of information, including data from connected and autonomous automobiles.

Here Technologies public sector head Miranda Ashby-Annoon said: “Real-time and historical traffic information is the foundation for today’s digital measurement of road network performance.

“Alongside our partner Iteris, it’s a privilege to provide MnDOT with the data and analytical tools needed to help improve the safety and efficiency of roadways across the state.”

Iteris Transportation Systems vice-president Scott Perley said:  “It is our privilege to support MnDOT’s goal of improving the performance of its roadways, as well as the safety and quality of life of the travelling public.

“With the implementation of the Iteris ClearGuide platform, MnDOT will be able to apply our cutting-edge analytics platform to make Minnesota’s roads safer and more efficient.”

Last month, Iteris completed the acquisition of Albeck Gerken, a US-based traffic operations and engineering services provider.

In May, the company received a contract from OC 405 Partners for an expanded role in the I-405 Improvement Project in southern California.
