Motion Auto has partnered with mapping and location services provider HERE Technologies.

Mobile first telematics auto insurer Motion Auto will integrate HERE maps within its consumer mobile app as part of the collaboration.

It will enable the Motion Auto to use HERE location data and analytics to better understand driving conditions.

HERE’s location platform will also allow Motion Auto to access road semantic information including speed limits and rules of the road.

“We look forward to providing Motion Auto with the location-based services needed to deliver customers the future of car insurance.”

HERE Technologies Americas consumer tech head Jason Bettinger said: “From the gig economy to mobility-as-a-service to the coming age of connected and automated vehicles, auto insurance is rapidly evolving.

“We look forward to providing Motion Auto with the location-based services needed to deliver customers the future of car insurance.”

The technology will offer measurements of the road surface condition and variable data including traffic conditions.

It will allow Motion Auto to offer tailored, contextually-aware, individual behaviour and user-based insurance policies to its customer.

Motion Auto co-founder and CIO Daniel Weisman said: “We reviewed several vendors and platforms to provide the depth of data we needed and HERE Technologies quickly became the obvious choice for us.

“As we push for much needed change in auto insurance, HERE Technologies is a vital partner to help us understand the behaviour of our customers and their relationship to routes, road conditions and traffic.”
