The Indian Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) has launched a new mobile app known as ‘Sukhad Yatra’ for highway users in the country.

Prepared by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Sukhad Yatra app includes a key feature that enables user to enter road quality-related information or to report any accident or pothole on the highway.

With the help of the new application, users will also acquire real-time information pertaining to waiting time expected at Plazas and various facilities such as points of interest, highway nest available across the highway.

Users can also make use of the app to purchase the FASTag tag.

The ministry has also launched a new toll-free emergency number, 1033, which will enable highway users to report an emergency condition, or highway-related feedback.

In order to ensure rapid response time in emergency, the service has also been integrated with various ambulance / tow away services along the road.

Supported by a multi-lingual support and user location tracking features, the service will provide the user with an accurate and responsive complaint resolution.

The ministry plans to establish at least one model driving training centre in each district of the state and will provide financial assistance.

The agency will also invest an equal amount of the grant under the scheme, which has been designed to create employment and meet the requirement of HMV and LMV drivers in India.

Furthermore, the ministry plans to launch the scheme for District Driving Training Centres and provide a grant of financial assistance for road safety advocacy.
