A temporary route will be placed for cyclists using Hobsonville Road and Buckley Avenue as part of the SH18 Hobsonville Deviation motorway project to be initiated by the New Zealand Transport Agency.

Cyclists are advised to cross Hobsonville Road before heading along Buckley Avenue and over the new Squadron Drive Bridge.

The work involves removing the existing shared concrete path on Hobsonville Road beyond Buckley Avenue for construction on the Squadron Drive interchange, which will give access to Hobsonville motorists after completion.

The 6km four-lane Hobsonville motorway, scheduled to be completed in 2012, is the last section of the new SH18 to be completed.

The New Zealand Transport Agency are hoping the $220m project will reduce congestion on Hobsonville Road and will increase access to developing areas in Massey and Kumeu.
