A joint venture between Amey and Webber has won an £11m ($19m) contract from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in the US to manage and maintain the major interstate highways in and around Dallas, Texas.

The performance-based maintenance contract covers the interstate corridors forming a triangle between the cities in Texas, which include I-35 Dallas to San Antonio (via Austin) North/South West, I-45 Dallas to Houston North/South East and I-10 San Antonio to Houston West/East.

"This win spearheads Amey’s growth in America and is part of our continued expansion overseas."

The contract is for an initial period of two years and has the potential to be extended for up to four years.

Amey stated that the joint venture partners will ensure that the network can effectively meet the demands of a growing economy and the Texan population.

Amey CEO Mel Ewell said: "This win spearheads Amey’s growth in America and is part of our continued expansion overseas, complementing recent growth in the Middle East and Australia."
