McCain, the manufacturer and supplier of intelligent transport solutions, has won a year-long contract from the US city of Austin to deliver 342 intelligent transportation signal (ITS) cabinets.

The ITS cabinet platform will help synchronise traffic flow in closely spaced intersections of the city.

The modular ITS will allow assemblies to be interchanged, providing control for a variety of ITS applications.

The 342 ITS cabinet model features two 14-pack output files and combines the rack-mounted assembly concept from 170-style traffic equipment with the serial bus communication concept from NEMA TS2.

The ITS cabinets have Cabinet Monitor Unit (CMU-212) monitoring up to 28 physical load switch channels (RYG) and have four virtual channels to serve 32 channel capacities.
