Bloomfield Parking Authority (BPA) in New Jersey, US, has introduced Parkmobile’s mobile payment system.

Available at all Bloomfield parking meters beginning 30 April 2014, the mobile app by Parkmobile USA will allow drivers to make their parking payment through their smart phones.

BPA executive director Glenn Domenick said: "The Parkmobile application is a convenient way to pay for parking. The alert system will also allow customers to easily add parking time and help prevent motorists from getting an overtime violation."

Users can complete online registration at the company’s official website and set up an account. They can then immediately begin to purchase parking via the mobile app by entering the zone number listed on the meter and paying by credit card, debit card, PayPal or Parkmobile Wallet.

The service also provides users with an option to receive text message alerts and reminders 15 minutes prior to the expiration of their parking session.

The app is available for iPhone, Android, Windows 7 and Blackberry smartphones.

Parkmobile USA CEO Cherie Fuzzell said: "We are glad to extend the offering to another progressive city in NJ (New Jersey). With this technology, customers no longer have to search for change at their destination."

Meanwhile, Parkmobile USA has also introduced its new service in Boulder, Colorado.
