China has completedthe largest highway lighting upgrade in Shenzhen by installing more than 10,000 street lights, featuring a million US-based Cree +1.05% XLamp(R) XP-G and XP-E High Efficiency White (HEW) LEDs.

The Shenzhen highway spans 75 miles of road with LED fixtures installed along one tunnel and four roadways.

The LED lights were supplied by China-based Kingsun Optoelectronic to illuminate Jihe highway G15, Nanguang highway G9411, Longda highway S318, Yanba highway as well as the Dameisha Tunnel.

Kingsun has also installed 270W and 300W RL2R Apollo LED luminaires alongside the highways, including three traffic lanes and an emergency lane in each direction.

The new LED lights are designed to provide more than 20lux of light as well as offer a 60% reduction in energy consumption compared with the previously used high-pressure sodium fixtures.
