Radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag and contactless smart tickets supplier Confidex has been awarded a contract by the E-470 Public Highway Authority in Colorado, US, to install 6C UHF RFID Windshield Labels for all-electronic toll collection system, ExpressToll.

The E-470 Public Highway Authority operates the E-470 toll road that forms a semi-circular beltway along the eastern perimeter of the Denver, Colorado.

Confidex US and Canada sales director Eric Heineman said: "Confidex’s goal is to be a full-service partner in providing RFID label and tag services for its customers.

"We are proud that our customers, like E-470, rely on Confidex in running their automatic toll collection systems smoothly 24/7."

"We have been very impressed with Confidex’s responsiveness to our requests."

Confidex RFID Windshield Label is a 6C RFID label developed for use in toll collection systems among the other automatic vehicle identification applications, and is attached on the car windshield for the identification of the vehicle automatically in high speed.

E-470, which processes 3.5 million ExpressToll transactions on average every month, believes that 6C enables a lower operation cost, better alignment with national toll interoperability standards as well as ensures the adoption of a certified technology that is used across multiple industries.

The Confidex RFID windshield labels were selected by E-470 following a 9-month field testing.

The 6C RFID labels are fully customised including customer specific visual and electrical personalisation, allowing E-470 to enhance its operations.

E-470 marketing and communications manager Jessica Carson said: "We have been very impressed with the level of service, overall product performance and Confidex’s responsiveness to our requests."
