MAN Truck & Bus, a commercial vehicle manufacturer and transport solution provider, has awarded a fast charges supply contract to ABB, a power and automation company based in Switzerland.

The two companies are also project partners in the European e-bus charging system (eBusCS) initiative, which aims to standardise the charging processes for electric buses.

ABB will provide chargers for MAN Truck & Bus’ new e-bus research and development (R&D) facilities in Munich, Germany, where the company is developing fully electric buses that are aimed to begin pilot operations in 2018.

The ABB fast charger with a CCS2 connector will be used for charging tests at the depot. The connectors are designed based on the EU’s guidelines for electric vehicle charging.

Fulton Hogan Seymour Whyte joint venture (JV) has been awarded a $929.3m ($701.4m) contract  to upgrade the Bruce Highway between Caloundra Road and the Sunshine Motorway in Queensland, Australia.

The upgrade will reduce congestion and transit time on the highway, which is used by approximately 60,000 vehicles a day.

The project being funded by the Australian Government ($743.4m) and the Queensland government ($185.9m).
