US-based multinational automaker, Ford, has announced an agreement to purchase Chariot, a crowd-sourced shuttle service. Ford has also partnered with bike-sharing provider Motivate.

The partnerships will enable Ford to provide a range of transportation solutions in city centres. The company is establishing a new City Solutions team that will work with cities across the world to understand their transportation requirements.

Jacobs Engineering Group has formed a design joint venture with KBR and SMEC Australia, which has been sub-contracted by the Gateway South Consortium.

The consortium is a joint venture between Fulton Hogan and Laing O’Rourke and is responsible for executing the $440m Darlington upgrade project in Adelaide, Australia.

French transport group, Keolis, has announced a partnership with Navya to launch Navly, an autonomous, driverless public transportation service.

Navly will be the world’s first such service and is currently undergoing test runs in Lyon, France. It will use Navya’s ARMA autonomous vehicle, an intelligent driverless shuttle, capable of safety transporting 15 passengers at speeds of up to 28mph.
