The Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) market deployed in Europe is expected to reach €1.3bn by 2015 up from €0.65bn in 2010, according to a new report by Berg Insight.

The ITS market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 15% even though individual markets may experience witness fluctuations due to the political climate and local developments, the research revealed.

The market will be led by companies INIT, Trapeze ITS and IVU as well as local players with considerable market shares on regional markets, including ACIS and INEO Systrans.

There will be other market players which focus on specific parts of complete ITS such as specialised hardware units or software applications.

Rickard Andersson, Berg Insight telecom analyst, said: "The ongoing deregulation of the public transport market in Europe spurs the adoption of sophisticated intelligent transport systems."
