Garmin is to use its HERE Technologies map data and traffic information for its PND products in Russia. 

The agreement with HERE will enable Garmin to access automotive-grade maps covering 3.7 million kilometres of roads across the country. 

The said that the deal would be beneficial to its new customers, as well as to the PND owners who purchased Garmin device with a lifetime map update subscription after June 2012, who will automatically become eligible for a free download of the latest map of Russia from HERE. 

Garmin’s customers using traffic-enable products will be able to access HERE's live Radio Broadcast Traffic service that is available across 51 metropolitan areas in Russia, and the customers who own Bluetooth-enabled PNDs will be able to access HERE's Connected Traffic service that is available across 100 Russian cities via Garmin's Smartphone Link app.

In 2015, the two companies entered a ten-year agreement, and as part of the deal, Garmin products have the access to HERE mapping and location services in dozens of markets globally.
