The Government of Ghana has secured donor funding of $1.5bn for the construction of Eastern Corridor road projects.

The projects involve construction of seven segments, including the 91km Tema roundabout-Kpong-Atimpoku-Asikuma junction stretch, the 147.2km Asikuma Junction-Hohoe-Jasikan-Poase Cement, and 78.2 km of road that takes in Poase Cement-Dodo-Pepesu-Nkwanta.

The Ghanaian government will also provide GHC100m ($60m) for the construction and development of the project in 2012.

Kwabena Duffuor, Ghana’s Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, said the government will collaborate with the private sector on the public private partnership (PPP) arrangement for the financing, construction and management of road infrastructure.
