The interstate 90 Dresbach Bridge project over the Mississippi River in Minnesota has achieved a milestone with construction crews completing the final closure pours of concrete, bringing the project closer to completion.

The construction of the $187.5m project, which has entered the final phase of completion and is claimed to be on schedule, was awarded to Ames Construction.

The pour consisted of 31 cubic yards of concrete, 5,100lb of reinforcing steel, and 800lb of post-tensioning cables.

The Ames crew also placed the curing blankets and protective plastic over the last gap.

Meanwhile, construction continues on the new westbound crossing, which will be open to limited traffic later.

Motorists traveling eastbound on I-90 over the Mississippi River have been directed toward the crossover lane on the west end of the construction zone.

Ames Construction project manager Alex Carlin was quoted by News8000.com as saying that till now 750,000 hours have been put into this project and by the completion of the project, it will touch one million.

The project includes construction of a new I-90 crossing over the Mississippi River and reconstruction of the Highway 61/14 and the I-90 interchange.
