The Indian Government has approved the construction of four expressway projects stretching 1,000km with an investment of Rs166bn ($3.35bn) under the National Highways Development Project (NHDP).

The four projects are the 400km-long Vadodara-Mumbai, 66km Delhi-Meerut, 334km Bangalore-Chennai, and 277km-long Kolkata-Dhanbad expressways.

Preparation of detailed project reports for Vadodara-Mumbai and Kolkata-Dhanbad expressways is in progress, while feasibility studies for Delhi-Meerut and Bangalore-Chennai expressways are being carried out.

Construction of the expressways will be carried out through a public-private partnership.
