Mumbai-based IRB Infra has signed an agreement with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for a highway widening project in the state of Haryana.

The project involves the widening of the Yedeshi to Aurangabad section of National Highway 211 (NH-211), from 100km to 290.20km. It is worth Rs23bn ($382.4m) and will be carried out under the fourth phase of the National Highways Development Project.

"The project is also expected to strengthen the IRB Infra’s base in Haryana, as well as help in the geographic diversification of projects."

The programme reportedly has a concession period of 27 years and is to be executed as build-operate-transfer (BOT) project, under design, build, finance, operate and transfer.

According to IRB Infra, the project will increase its construction order book to nearly Rs106bn ($1.76bn.

Earlier this year, the company secured a road project in Maharashtra, which is worth Rs32bn ($532.5m).

The contract was originally announced in May and the project is due to be complete within a period of 910 days.
