Image Sensing Systems (ISS) has announced that 360 units of Autoscope video detection equipment have been installed to improve traffic flow in Jining, China.

The supplied ISS systems are integrated with the city’s traffic signal controllers, in order to provide presence detection and highly accurate traffic data for the system, which includes volume, speed and occupancy.

"There are an increasing number of Chinese cities evaluating video image processing for intersection detection and we are very optimistic of our near-future opportunities in the Chinese market."

Installation and commissioning of the Autoscope equipment was completed in 2013 and was successfully handed over to the city in the first quarter of 2014.

ISS will offer additional support to the vehicle detection system during the two-year defect liability period.

ISS EMEA/APAC managing director Dan Skites said Chinese intersections have traditionally used intrusive loop detection, leading to expensive and cumbersome maintenance issues.

"There are an increasing number of Chinese cities evaluating video image processing for intersection detection and we are very optimistic of our near-future opportunities in the Chinese market," Skites said.

Image Sensing Systems is engaged in developing and delivering above-ground detection technology, applications and solutions to help improve safety and efficiency for cities and highways.

It provides intelligent transportation systems, security, police and parking professionals with more precise and accurate information, including real-time reaction capabilities and in-depth analytics to make confident and proactive decisions.
