MAV Systems has announced the launch of the Rapier 50IQ, its new intelligent ANPR camera that incorporates HD image quality and motorised zoom cameras.

The camera, which is also integrated with high-speed ANPR recognition and maxIRange pulsed IR lighting, is helpful in reducing network traffic massively.

The new camera has multiple applications, including traffic monitoring, tolling, car park management, as well as low emission zone or bus lane enforcement.

"The reaction of partners who have tested the IQ to date has been overwhelmingly positive and we cannot wait to spread the word far and wide."

MAV has worked with a third-party ANPR software provider to enable the IQ camera to provide a complete plate reading solution.

Performing at the better level of accuracy, the Rapier IQ’s ANPR engine provides metadata that allows the partners to develop new applications that are unique to the industry.

The additional metadata of Rapier IQ allows application developers to build their own IPR by creating rules and analysis techniques to recognise events such as illegal turns, exit/entry violations, direction and speed of travel alongside the ANPR read itself.

MAV managing director Steve Walker said: "From the low power consumption and simple installation to the advanced open platform metadata capabilities, the Rapier IQ has been developed to empower our partners do what they do better.

"This level of performance, capability, reliability and technology has never been seen before in a single unit so efficiently designed. The reaction of partners who have tested the IQ to date has been overwhelmingly positive and we cannot wait to spread the word far and wide."

According to the company, the Rapier 50IQ is hermetically sealed to IP68 and can be powered using PoE+ to give a single cable install.
