On Track Innovations (OTI) has entered into a five-year contract to help manage more than 5,000 on-street parking spaces in Arlington County, Virginia, US.

Under the contract, OTI will install its EasyPark in-vehicle parking device to replace the county’s existing iPark system. Arlington County was one of the first areas in the country to implement cashless parking.

Arlington County treasurer Frank O’Leary said: "The Arlington County Treasurer’s office is looking forward to working with OTI to provide the motorists of Northern Virginia with a convenient, low-cost on-street parking solution that will meet their needs now and in the future."

The agreement comprises general and financial management services, parking fees collection and customer support services.

Speaking about the development, OTI CEO Ofer Tziperman said: "It’s all part of our continuing strategy of entering long-term public/private partnership contracts for municipal parking management."

Arlington County will commence installation of EasyPark devices early next month.

EasyPark is in pilots in many other cities across the US and is already in use in cities such as Austin, Texas, Manchester, Portsmouth and Dover and New Hampshire.

Since its introduction 15 years ago, EasyPark has been deployed in over 160 municipalities worldwide.
