Philippines Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is planning to invest PHP3.18bn ($74m) under its Special Bridges projects to build or replace 91 bridges in two years.

The steel bridges will be built through mountains, across rivers and interconnect roads, which will provide better transportation to areas currently inaccessible to vehicles.

The project includes construction of 3,765 linear metre bridges, which will be funded through loans and government funding, according to philstar.com

DPWH Project Management Office said the projects will provide structurally sound permanent bridges along the national roads in order to improve basic social, industrial and agricultural activities, as well as providing safe and faster transport services.
