TomTom has introduced its speed camera service in Russia, making it the 50th country where the service is available.

The new service allows drivers to receive the latest warnings of nearby speed and red light cameras. It will also be offered to major car manufacturers and app developers, so that they can easily integrate it into their systems.

"TomTom recently launched its world-class traffic information in Russia, helping drivers avoid frustrating traffic jams and reach their destination faster."

With the help of its OpenLR technology, TomTom said it could pinpoint more than 3,000 speed cameras across Russia.

Speaking about the development, TomTom traffic and travel information vice-president Ralf-Peter Schäfer said drivers in Russia are now better equipped to make smarter decisions on every journey, keeping to the designated speed limit and avoiding costly fines.

"The launch of this service adds to the real-time information available to Russian drivers," Schäfer said. "TomTom recently launched its traffic information in Russia, helping drivers avoid frustrating traffic jams and reach their destination faster."

Earlier this month, the company released TomTom GO 40, 50 and 60, expanding the reach of its TomTom live traffic service to more drivers. The live service covers all roads and combines data from millions of drivers to offer accurate traffic information.

All new TomTom GO devices now offer Lifetime TomTom Traffic and integrates real-time traffic information with routing technology, aiding drivers to quickly reach their destinations.
