The Tristar Transport’s UAE operation has been certified for ISO 39001:2012 standard in recognition of the company’s road traffic safety (RTS) management system.

This new development is a result of an audit conducted by a team from the United Registrar of Systems (URS Certification) that is accredited with the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS), the company stated.

For this certification, the firm was required to have an RTS management system, which allows an organisation to minimise road traffic-related deaths and serious injuries.

"Last year saw our successful re-certification of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 for another three-year term."

The company said it offers a framework to help organisations reduce, and ultimately eliminate the risk of deaths and serious injuries in road traffic accidents.

Tristar Group CEO Eugene Mayne said: "Last year saw our successful re-certification of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 for another three-year term.

"We also initiated certification for ISO 39001, which is a new ISO standard related to road safety traffic."

The ISO 39001:2012 certification requirements include development and implementation of an appropriate RTS policy, development of RTS objectives and action plans and information about elements and criteria related to RTS.

In December last year, the company received the Prince Michael International Road Safety Award in recognition of its extensive internal and external road safety programs.

Tristar launched a road safety awareness workshop in June 2014 for heavy-duty drivers from all across the UAE.
